A major road in Witham has had to be closed after a sinkhole appeared in the carriageway.
Anglia Water are currently investigating the sewers underneath Guithavon Street, after the sinkhole appeared earlier today.
The hole is said to be roughly 2m deep and 3m around.
An emergency road closure has been put in place until at least tomorrow whilst Essex Highways work with Anglian Water to conduct repairs.
A diversion will be implemented.
