UPDATED: A CAR fire closed the A131 near Great Notley in Braintree today with the fire service shutting down the fire.
At about 12.30pm today a car fire broke out on the A131 with one source saying there has been no injuries reported to either the car user or members the public.
The road was shut down until Essex County Fire and Rescue arrived to safely deal with the fire.
This follows a field fire in Covent Lane in Braintree yesterday evening which required four crews from Colchester, Halstead, Tollesbury and Dunmow.
The field fire saw approximately 200 metres by 150 metres (two hectares) of a field of cut grass being alight.
UPDATE: A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to a vehicle fire in Avenue East, Great Notley at 12.04pm.
"Two crews, from Braintree and Coggeshall, attended and extinguished the fire by 12.43pm.
"The cause has been recorded as accidental."
