Racist yobs daubed swastikas on the front and back of the Braintree and Witham Times office and a neighbouring premises.
The High Street shop front was graffitied with the vile slur on Tuesday evening at around 5pm.
More Nazi graffiti was then seen at the back in George’s Yard.
Police have been informed and CCTV is being sought as are any witnesses.
News Editor Adam Cornell said: “It is very disappointing to see people still choosing to use swastikas during mindless vandalism.
“There is no doubt this was a hate crime, adding the word ‘Nazi’ made that clear.
“What is not clear is why the newspaper office was targeted.
“Having informed the police and sent pictures we will be clearing it up as soon as possible so others don’t have to feel as shocked and appalled as we all felt seeing this in the town centre.”
Officers from Essex Police will be checking any other reports of similar symbols in the area.
Braintree Council has been approached for CCTV and the newspaper is asking other businesses to check their cameras to help try and find the culprits.
