WHATSAPP is set to become a tool in the arsenal of businesses which want look out for each other.
The 'Witham Business Watch Group' will allow shops and businesses to call for help from neighbours during incidents such as anti-social behaviour.
The group on the mobile messaging app will see the neighbourhood watch group and the Witham Chamber of Commerce join forces.
Tina Townsend, the leader of the Witham Chamber, said if it proves successful the group will look towards funding equipment potentially such as walkie talkies.
Mrs Townsend said: "If there's something happening at another business and they need help we don't have a way at the moment of raising awareness.
"If I have a security guard and something does happen then I wouldn't hesitate to send them over to help.
"This would be a good way of combatting the people who cause trouble.
"If this proves successful we will look towards funding equipment, that will take time though and we will need to prove there is a need first."
