Braintree Town boss Robbie Garvey has insisted it will be business as usual tonight when he returns to former club Thurrock.
The Iron manager is still something of a cult hero at Ship Lane.
As a tough-tackling midfielder, he played in Fleet’s first-ever game in 1985.
He clocked up more than 150 appearances for them, during two spells at the club.
Now Braintree manager, Garvey is vying for a Blue Square South play-off spot with his former team.
The two sides meet this evening, with just two points separating them in the table.
Garvey told the Gazette: “My playing career finished 100 years ago!
“It’s about my team tonight not me but I had some enjoyable years there.
“I have a lot of good friends there and get on well with their chairman and manager, Hakan Hayrettin.
“But it’s a case of getting on with business when the game kicks off.”
Meanwhile, Braintree have confirmed they have re-signed former striker Bertie Brayley.
Brayley was recently released by Iron's Blue Square South rivals Bishop's Stortford.
