Fans of a popular Braintree rock band have been told to stop bombarding a national radio show with requests.
Producers of Dermot O’Leary’s Saturday afternoon BBC Radio 2 show have been inviting listeners to email to request which bands they would like to play a live acoustic session.
But after receiving messages from Missing Andy’s ‘street team’ of supporters, a producer asked the band to stop their fans from “clogging up” the show’s inbox.
Bass player Rob Jones said: “What annoys us is the BBC is a public service which we all pay for.
“They asked bands to write in and we’ve done that and tried to be a bit clever about it.
“The way it was dismissed just reeks of unfairness.”
In an email, one of the show’s producers said: “Would you mind asking the band to stop getting people to email the show please - it clogs up the inbox and doesn’t do them any favours!”
