A mum has complained about the length of time it took for her son to be given an appendix operation and pain relief.
John Jordan, 14, was taken to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, last Tuesday with appendicitis.
Mum Kerry Jordan said they were told he would undergo surgery that evening, but the operation did not take place until the following day, by which time his appendix had ruptured.
She also claimed he was given pain relief before 9am on Wednesday but did not receive any more until 2pm after she complained.
A Broomfield Hospital spokesman apologised for the pain relief not being sufficient., but said the timing of the surgery was provided in a timely and appropriate manner.
John is now recovering at home.
