A police inspector has assured the public there has been no “substantial” change in officer numbers following demands for a greater uniformed presence.
Witham MP Priti Patel vowed to write to Stephen Kavanagh, the chief constable of Essex Police, to ask how many officers were working in the town and how they use their time to respond to policing needs.
Her letter follows a meeting between police, herself and schoolchildren at Powers Hall Junior School in Spa Road, Witham.
