Two altruistic school friends are raising hundreds of pounds for charity in honour of two family friends.
Helena Romanes pupils Chloe Phillips and Nicola Rose, who are both 14, will be swimming 2.5 miles each to boost funds for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research Charity today.
Chloe, who swims with Braintree and Bocking Swimming Club, and Nicola were set to tackling the challenge yesterday at Dunmow’s public pool.
The duo decided to raise money after two family friends suffered with leukaemia.
Chloe, of Braintree, said: “When we first organised it, it was nerve-wracking.
“But I’ve been looking forward to it.”
The pair have already raised more than £700.
