Resurfacing work will mean drivers have to take a 32 mile diversion to get from Bradwell to Marks Tey.

Overnight work, which will take place between 8pm and 6am, will begin on Monday, November 25.

The diversion will take motorists through Great Notley, Great Leighs and Little Waltham before joining the A12 at Springfield.

Drivers will then have drive 17 more miles along to A12 to Marks Tey where they can rejoin the A120.

The total journey will clock up 32.5miles and should take about 50 minutes, compared to the normal 14 minute 8.2mile route.

A Highways Agency spokesman said: “When we put in place diversions, we have to make sure they are the most appropriate routes for all trunk road users, including heavy goods vehicles.

“We have worked with Essex County Council and Essex Police to ensure that this is the case while we undertake overnight work to resurface the A120 later this month."
