Police are appealing for witnesses after a driver failed to stop following a crash.
A woman in her 20s has been taken to hospital following the two-vehicle collision in Freebournes Road, Witham, at about 12.45pm today.
Two fire crews attended the scene and used specialist cutting equipment to release the woman from her Vauxhall Corsa by 1.50pm.
She was then taken to Broomfield Hospital for treatment.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Her condition isn’t thought to be life threatening."
Officers searched for a second vehicle, a white Ford Transit van with a 59 plate and damage to the front passenger side, but have been unable to locate the vehicle.
Any witnesses are asked to call PC Matt May at Braintree police station on 101.
