A crime victim has slammed police advice to park her car under street lights when they get switched off at night. who had the back wheels stolen from her car has said that police advice to park her car under a street light is “ridiculous.”
Lisa Rennie, of Lister Road, Braintree, claims she was given the "ridiculous" advice after the back wheels of her Renault Clio were stolen.
The mum-of-two discovered the theft on November 14.
She said: “The police advised me to park my car under a street light but they go off at midnight, it wouldn’t make any difference if the lights are off.
“I am really angry with the police, they should know that we are in darkness about 12.
“They should be aware of that.”
An Essex Police spokesman said: “The advice to park a vehicle under a street light is always good advice, especially as it gets dark around 5pm at this time of year, regardless of the light being switched off at midnight.
“It is always important to ensure that your vehicle is securely locked and alarmed and any valuable items are removed from sight.”
