A Braintree man is in custody after a woman was allegedly assaulted in Tesco.
Police were called to the supermarket in Braintree town centre at about 7.05pm yesterday following a report of a disturbance.
Officers arrived and arrested a 21-year-old man from Braintree on suspicion of assaulting a woman at the store.
She is not believed to have been injured.
It is not clear whether this woman was a shopper or member of staff, according to a police spokesman.
The man was taken into custody where he was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.
He remains in custody.
