Marks and Spencers has submitted plans for two trolley bay shelters.

The upmarket store, which looks set to include a cafe, is progressing with its plans to open in the former Comet premises on Braintree Retail Park in the summer.

M&S wants to install trolley bays, which would take up two parking spaces, and signage.

The store is also looking to have signs on the retail park’s Totem poles.

In the planning application, an M&S spokesman stated: “Overall, we consider that the proposed trolley bay shelters are minor in nature and will not have a detrimental effect on the appearance of the host building or the car park, being typical features in a retail car park.”
