More parking for commuters is in the pipeline after a developer ditched housing plans.

Trigina has dropped its plans to develop the Eckard House site in Easton Road into nine houses, paving the way for Braintree Council to snap up the plot and turn it into parking for 60-80 cars.

Trigina had originally submitted the plans towards the end of February, and then lodged an appeal with the Secretary of State after becoming frustrated at the length of time it was taking for the council to give it the go ahead or not.

This appeal was withdrawn on November 12.

Robert Pomery, who was acting as a planning consultant for Trigina, said: “Although the sale hasn’t happened, it has been agreed."
