A man remains in hospital after his oven caught alight when cooking was left unattended.
Fire Crews were called just after 2.30am to a ground floor flat in Maltings Court, in Maltings Lane, Witham.
The man was taken to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, after suffering a head injury and burns to his arm, although his condition is not thought to be life threatening.
Two other people were treated at the scene and discharged with minor injuries.
Two firecrews from Witham and one from Chelmsford rushed to the scene last Thursday, which was also attended by three rapid response vehicles, two ambulances, paramedic officer and hazardous area response team.
The ground floor flat was heavily smokelogged.
