Two determined young sisters are appealing for Witham’s underwhelming Christmas tree to be given a makeover.
Emma and Ava Corrigan took part in the town’s festivities at last Wednesday’s Christmas lights switch-on, performing as part of the Big Sing choir, but they were disappointed at the standard of the lights on the tree in Newland Street.
On returning to their home in Bantock Way, the Chipping Hill Primary School pupils immediately set about trying to do their bit and wrote a letter to the Times pleading to the community for help.
Town clerk Mark Squire said there were fewer lights because of vandalism last year.
He said it was too later to make any changes this year but the Christmas lights working party would look at it for next year.
