Essex County Council will leave the streetlights on tonight due to severe weather conditions.
The lights will remain on to assist emergency services, agencies and residents as travelling conditions and visibility may be hindered.
Essex County Councillor Rodney L Bass, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation: “I have decided to temporarily suspend Part-Night Lighting in areas of the county that have been moved onto the scheme. The safety and welfare of local residents is paramount and I want to keep the lights on, from 12 midnight to 5am, to assist the emergency services, our partners and residents during what is expected to be dangerous weather conditions.”
People living in the affected areas should call Floodline on 0845 988 1188 for the latest flood warnings in their area.
