Witham's MP is calling on a disability charity to reconsider its proposals to close a care home in Feering.
Over the next three years, the charity Scope is set to consult on plans to close Drummonds care home, in The Street, and Wakes Hall in Wakes Colne, where 150 staff care for 71 people in total.
Four bungalows in Tiptree, along with three self-contained flats in Ewer Court, Fairfax Road, Colchester, will stay open.
This week Priti Patel met with carers, residents and their relatives, who attend Drummonds and 10 other homes and are concerned about the distress and upset a closure would mean.
Ms Patel said: “Scope need to start listening to the needs of the residents of these homes."
