Living in the constituency for almost 20 years, I’m chairman of a local parish council and a school governor.
I believe in public service and have served in the Volunteer Reserve Forces as well as competing for Team GB.
Formerly a secondary school maths teacher, I now teach at one of Britain’s most ethnically diverse universities.
I grew up on a council estate; my mum was a school dinner lady and my dad a brass fitter.
I grew up knowing that social justice doesn’t work for everyone, so I’m campaigning for fairness and equality to be placed at the centre of Government.
Labour are the only party to have a costed plan to save our NHS.
I believe our communities need to be organised for the ‘many’, not just for the ‘few’.
Labour has a plan to cut the deficit every year and get the current budget into surplus with our national debt falling; I want economic recovery to be for everybody not just the privileged.
I believe MPs should not hold other paid jobs; they should concentrate on representing their constituency.
I want to be your MP for the same reason I always wanted to be a teacher; to make a positive difference to people’s lives.
