More than £600 was raised in just one day after Witham Mayor Bill Rose completed an eight-mile walk for charity.
Mr Rose walked from Braintree Town Hall to Witham Town Hall and was waved off by MP James Cleverly, then welcomed to Witham by MP Priti Patel.
Joining him along the way to raise money for Children With Cancer UK and Brainwave were Councillor Tom Pleasance and friend Sandra Hamilton.
The trio took three hours to complete the walk, which took in Black Notley, White Notley and Faulkbourne, and stopped four times to “refuel”.
