A PUB has been officially reopened after a major £342,000 makeover.
Witham MP Priti Patel, popped into the Cherry Tree in Witham to toast its future success following an overhaul by national pub operator Punch.
The Cressing Road pub was given a complete makeover including full redecoration inside and out with new lighting, flooring, furniture, fixtures and fittings.
The bar area has been opened up and there are new signs and lighting as well as a patio area.
New landlord Deborah McNerlin, who lives opposite the pub, has worked in the industry for a several years, but this will be the first time she has run her own pub.
She said: “At first I was a little daunted at the prospect of running a pub rather than just working in one, but I’m so glad that I’ve done it and I’m delighted with the pub’s transformation.”
