Family and friends have raised £4,000 in memory of a man who died after being hit by a car.
Ryan Lynch, 29, was critically injured in April as he walked across South Street, Braintree, when a sports car mounted the pavement.
The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance helped Ryan at the scene, but he sadly died in hospital a week later.
Brother Daniel has now raised £4,039 after taking part in a tenmile race at Wimpole Hall, in Cambridgeshire.
Daniel and a team of friends dressed up as characters from Star Wars to complete the course.
He said: “Me and my friend Tony Bacon were thinking of doing a run in memory of Ryan and to raise awareness for the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance as this is a charity-run organisation, which I didn’t know.
“They helped my brother in April this year, but unfortunately we lost Ryan as the injuries he suffered were too bad.
“He was on life support for a week before he left us.
“Ryan was such a lovely person.
He always had a nice smile and was a lovely brother, uncle and son – we all miss him.”
Daniel and Tony both have a background in running so decided to take on the ten-mile charity challenge.
Tony had seen a photo of Ryan with his nieces at Wimpole Hall so they decided to tackle the course there as it would have been familiar to him.
Daniel, 36, said: “Ryan loved Star Wars, so we thought it would be a brilliant idea to dress up as the characters.
“I thought Ryan’s partner and friends would be well up for this so I sent a message out on Facebook.
“Everyone was up for it, so thanks to all Ryan’s friends and Tony for making this possible - we couldn’t have done it without you.
“What a good achievement it was and just a very small gesture to a few of the people who did their very best for Ryan.”
The team have already raised more than eight times their target of £500.
