CHEMICAL drums, sandbags and even rotting clothes were all found dumped in a village by litter pickers.
Silver End and Cressing district councillor James Abbott co-ordinated a clean-up of well known 'grot-spots' in Rivenhall last week after several group litter picks were cancelled due to the pandemic.
Mr Abbott targeted Henry Dixon Road, which he says was completely cleared of rubbish 12 months ago.
But the road was filled with a mix of litter and flytipped items, such as car parts and chemical drums.
He said: "It is incredible that some people behave as they do in littering and dumping their trash into the environment,
"Each side of the road there are belts of trees, some planted by volunteers as an environmental improvement project several decades ago. But the trees are unfortunately also used as cover to litter and fly-tip by those who don’t care that they are despoiling the local environment.
"We found parts of cars, empty drums of chemicals, bags of rotting clothes, building rubble, abandoned roads signs and sandbags, plus the usual mixture of cans, bottles and plastics."
"Thanks once again to Braintree Council who had already picked up some of the collected trash when this picture was taken - and we have asked if BDC can collect the rest as they have kindly done for previous litter picks."
