A town centre road was closed for several hours last night after a women was hit by a car.
Courtauld Road, Braintree was closed in both directions between Bocking End and B1256, Coggeshall Road.
A woman has been taken to hospital after suffering a head injury.
The road reopened about 11pm.

A spokesperson from Essex Police said: "We were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Courtauld Road, Braintree at 4.30pm on Thursday 25 March.
"A female pedestrian has sustained a head injury and is being taken to hospital.
"The road has been closed while officers investigate.
