MORE than 80,000 people in the Braintree district have now had their first Covid jab, according to the latest figures.
NHS data shows 80,411 people had received a vaccine jab by April 18.
This equals 65 per cent of those aged 16 and over, according to the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.
Of those vaccinated, 60,057 were aged 50 and over – 96 per cent of the age group.
It means 20,354 people aged between 16 to 49 have received a first dose of the vaccine.
Areas with the highest coverage:
• Bures Hamlet, Maplestead & Belchamp, with 72 per cent
• Panfield, Finchingfield & Bardfield, 70.7 per cent
• Witham South, Hatfield Peverel & White Notley, 70.7 per cent
Areas with the lowest coverage:
• Central Braintree, 56.4 per cent
• Braintree South, 57.7 per cent
• Bocking, 59.4 per cent
