Drink and drug drivers appear in Essex's lower courts every week.
The offence attracts a compulsory driving ban and usually results in a hefty fine.
The drink driving limit for breath is 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath while for blood it is 80 milligrammes of blood per 100 millilitres of blood.
These are some of the drink and drug drivers to appear in magistrates' courts in Chelmsford and Colchester last month.
Daniel Bedlow, 22, of Warne Avenue, Braintree, was caught with 9 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on the A12 Colchester bypass on October 3. At Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court he admitted the charge and was handed a 16 month ban, fined £120 and ordered to pay a £34 victim services fund.
Adam Thurley, 43, of Silks Way, Braintree, was caught with 50 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was stopped in Coggeshall Road on September 20. He admitted the charge at Colchester Magistrates’ Court and was banned from the roads for 12 months, fined £330 and ordered to pay a £37 victim services fund and £105 prosecution costs.
Suzanne Smith, 53, of Broomfied Way, Braintree, was caught with 140 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood when she was stopped on the A120 on April 10. She admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court and was banned from the roads for 17 months. She was also fined £120 and ordered to pay a £34 victim services fund and £105 prosecution costs.

Richard Muffett, 38, of Pennyroyal Crescent, Witham, was caught with 126 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was stopped on Spa Road, Witham, on August 30. He admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court and was banned from the roads for 29 months. He was also ordered to complete 100 hours unpaid work and must pay a victim services fund charge of £95 and prosecution costs of £105.
Katie Horton, 22, of Collingwood Road, Witham, was found to have 51 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when she was stopped in Cressing Road on September 19. She admitted the charge at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court and was handed a 12 month ban. She was also fined £359 and ordered to pay a victim services charge of £36 and prosecution costs of £105.
