I TOO like Mr Mark Ault (Times, November 4) would object to the proposed prison at Wethersfield, and furthermore urge others to file an objection by going to Braintree Council’s website and filling in the online form to air their views on the subject.
Below is a copy of my response:
In my opinion the Wethersfield site should be used to build a large shopping centre for the whole of the community of Braintree district. It should not be used to either build or construct a prison to accommodate thousands of prisoners. I do not either believe this will create hundreds of jobs as it is very likely that staff from other areas will be transferred to this site.
The people of Braintree and its district need more shops and a decent post office not a prison, and what then will happen to those inmates that are released, where are they going to find work, also what about the prisoners that escape, they will be a constant threat to society.
I totally agree with Mr Ault, and yes, people will be very wary of anything that will take place in that proposed prison and those who will escape, what on earth are Braintree District Council thinking of?
