MP James Cleverly has had his position changed in the latest cabinet reshuffle.

The MP for Braintree and Halstead has been announced as the new Minister of State for Europe, as he moves on from his previous role.

Mr Cleverly was previously the Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa.

Despite the change, he will remain in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

Mr Cleverly is replacing Chris Heaton-Harris, who has been in the role since December of last year.

Mr Heaton-Harris is moving to the role of Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury, or chief whip.

In his new role as Minister of State for Europe, Mr Cleverly will in charge of affairs with Europe, the European Union and NATO.

The Minister can also be responsible for things such as government policy towards European security; defence and international security and FCO finance, knowledge, and technology.

Other key shuffles include Jacob Rees-Mogg being made Brexit opportunities minister and Heather Wheeler becoming a parliamentary secretary in the Cabinet Office, in addition to her current role as an assistant government whip.

The reshuffle comes after the prime minister promised a reshuffle following Sue Gray's report on lockdown parties.
