A BIG-HEARTED youngster has used his kindness to donate vital supplies of food to a community hub.
Nine-year-old Noah Lane, from Witham, gave bags full of food to the Witham Community Hub.
Mum Natalie said: “He just came out of school one day and decided he wanted to do something for charity and make a difference to people’s lives.
“We eventually decided on donating to the foodbank.”
Noah designed his own leaflets to hand out in the community, inviting people to donate tins, cans and other food to him for the hub.
Natalie said: “He gave the leaflets to his friends, family and neighbours who went out and got some food to give to him.
“It was amazing. Some people were bringing whole bags of stuff. There was so much and he was so happy.”
Following his huge collection, Noah took the bags of food to the hub at February half term.
Natalie had kept in touch with the centre to let them know the food was coming, but they couldn’t believe how much he donated.

Hub chair of trustees Tina Townsend said: “I had been talking to his mum for a couple of weeks. She had contacted me and asked what the best way forwards was.
“I said these are the things we are looking for if he could collect that, but we never expect things like this, and just one tin would’ve been amazing.
“We were overwhelmed. It always brings a tear to the volunteers’ eyes, seeing young ones getting involved.
“They have a passion for it, thinking I am okay being fed every day, but what if my friend isn’t?
“It is lovely to see them getting involved and we always encourage it – they are the future of the hub.
“He should be proud of himself, as he has done something really nice for the community.”
Natalie is thrilled with Noah’s efforts.
She said: “I am immensely proud, as are his friends and family.
“The whole thing was completely out of the blue, but now he wants to do more and I am sure he will.”
