A driver who flashed his headlights, tailgated and repeatedly overtook another vehicle has been handed penalty points and a fine.
Steven Spence, 45, of Notley Road, Braintree, admitted driving on a road without reasonable consideration for others following the incident in Witham Road on June 29 last year.
Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard Spence was driving a BMW when the incident happened.
He flashed his headlights at another vehicle and tailgated the witness so closely the lights, grille and number plate could not be seen.
After overtaking the witness Spence narrowly missed colliding with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
He then pulled in front of the witness stopped and opened the drivers door window. The two vehicles repeatedly overtook each other with Spence then continuing to follow the other vehicle while flashing his headlights.
At court magistrates handed him five penalty points and fined him £80.
He must also pay a £34 victim services fund and £110 costs.
