A GROUP campaigning against plans for two huge new prisons at Wethersfield has launched a web page to raise money to fund the fight.
SWAP – Stop Wethersfield Airfield Prisons – was formed in December and is battling the Ministry of Justice’s proposals to build the jails on the former RAF airbase.
The group has now opened a donations page to help fund the campaign.
The money will go towards rising national awareness and support, landscape assessments, planning barristers, legal fees and other costs.

A spokesman for the group said: “This is your community. The prison opposition is just a first step in the Fields Association’s aim to nurture and improve where we live.
“On a daily basis, we hear from members of the community who want to stop these mega prisons, but are unsure of how to help.
“We recognise that we are all different and can offer differing levels of contribution in terms of time, activities or money, but everyone can do something.”
