CHARACTERS came to life and struck a pose as a comic book store celebrated its reopening.
Braintree’s Blast Music and Comics had its reopening on Saturday and marked it with a day of celebration for not only them, but other independent small businesses at the fountain end of the High Street.
Synergy Cosplay, Spidey-Hire and Blast Music and Comics all teamed up and dressed up as favoured characters.
Manager of Blast Comics Charlie Kayley said: “Children and adults alike had pictures taken with the characters all day and interacted with their heroes.
“We were able to take pictures in various independent businesses throughout the day to promote those too.
“What was great to see was the community support, as so many people came along to support and there were plenty of kids dressing up as their favourite characters to join in too.
“The number of parents and children we met with ASD or other needs was incredible and to see the smile on their faces meeting their heroes was wonderful.
“All the guys interacted with those kids so well, and Synergy and Spidey-Hire have to be recognised because they were absolutely incredible.”

On top of the characters coming to life, the event was put on to raise money for Autism Anglia and to promote fellow businesses in the High Street and in Sandpit Lane.
The store also hopes to put similar events on in the future and has thanked the community for their support.
Charlie added: “We raised just short of £400 for Autism Anglia with help from Baby Bakes and Shake Express in creating our raffle hamper, which will go a long way in helping a small local charity.
“This event was so well supported and with fountain end and Sandpit Lane having a good working relationship with Braintree Council we are working to put on more events that are similar, hopefully in the summer and around Christmas.
“A huge thank you to the community who really came out in force to support our businesses as well as Autism Anglia.
“Baby Bakes had a sell-out day, Shake Express had a queue out the door consistently all day and Blast Music and Comics were welcomed to Fountain End with a bang.”
