NEW works are set to be carried out on the A131 which will see delays for drivers.
Preparations are being made by Essex Highways to carry out ground stabalisations and safety barrier replacement works on a section of the A131, which carries Blackley Lane Bridge over Blackley Lane.
Works are planned to start this Thursday, May 19, are expected to last approximately nine weeks.
Drivers can expect delays as a temporary 40 miles per hour speed limit will be in place 24 hours a day until the project is complete.
The majority of works will be carried out between 7.30am and 5.30pm, from Monday to Saturday.
There will be a single lane closure in place from the junction with London Road Roundabout to the junction with Great Leighs Bypass Roundabout.
The works will be carried out in phases starting on the northbound carriageway with a lane closure in place.
Once the first phase is complete works will commence on the southbound carriageway with a lane closure.
Where possible traffic management will be reduced to allow both lanes to be open during non-working hours.
Access to Chelmsford City Racecourse will remain open throughout the period.
