ESSEX Police have managed to save a swan from a busy road.
This morning on the A131 at Great Notley, officers were flagged down by concerned members of the public.
The officers jokingly referenced Hot Fuzz, saying "It's about two foot tall, long slender neck, and has a kind of orange and black bill.
"Well it's a swan".
However, the animal was rescued by the police, and a passing vet took the swan to be checked over for any injuries.
After posting the incident on social media, members of the public shared their appreciation for the swan being saved.
Gill Patridge said: "Thank you to the officers who dealt with this very quickly earlier, and thank goodness for the passing vet."
Gillian Savoury added: "Well done for caring. Hope the poor thing is ok."
Witham Northern county councillor Ross Playle even got involved, adding: "Well done for catching them swans."
