A SHOPPING village is delighted after its inaugural car boot sale was hailed a big success.
Petersfield Shopping Village, in Gosfield, held its first boot sale at the weekend after much planning and preparation.
The centre celebrated its grand reopening in April following weeks of refurbishment and upgrades, after it was taken over by new owners.
Throughout the year, it has seen plenty of success, including a visit from TV's Antiques Road Trip in June.
The boot sale was a big success with the community, with hundreds turning up to browse and hunt for bargains.
In the afternoon, there was live music from Loxleys Corner and refreshments provided by Tipsy Bubbles and Fox in the Stables Tearooms.
Owners said they wanted to hold it due to the lack of boot sales in north Braintree and Halstead.
One of the owners John Potter said: "The first boot fair was a great success.
"The day was hot but that didn't stop the 50 stalls and hundreds of visitors enjoying the bargains.
"The day started at 7am and continue until midday and the visitors then enjoyed browsing the antiques.
"The next event at Petersfield is the TVR & Classic Sports Car Show on Sunday, August 28, followed by another boot sale on September 11."
