A YOUNG dancing duo who have been together for three years have been crowned champions at a prestigious annual tournament.
Budding ballroom and Latin dancers Bay Rose, from Rayne, and Tobias Wilson from Suffolk, were crowned under-10 Latin champions at the UK Open Internationals.
The pair have been dancing at the same club since they were just three years old and have been in a dance partnership since 2019, competing all over the country and abroad.
They have competed in Ireland where they were double champions, in Italy making the under-12 juvenile finals and were also the European Latin champions which took place in April in the home of ballroom - Blackpool.
Bay’s mother Sarah Bullen said: “They train four times a week and compete at the weekend.
"The amount of discipline and hard work that goes into this sport is incredible for two nine-year-olds - it is very physical and very demanding.
“These kids are not only fabulous at dancing, they are very funny and very well-liked throughout the ballroom world.”
The UK Open is an annual competition showcasing the best dancers from across a number of countries.
The 69th International Championships were held in Kent for the qualifying rounds, with the professionals dancing the finals at the Royal Albert Hall.
Bay and Tobias won the under-10 Latin category and were placed fourth in ballroom, beating competitors from across Britain as well as Italy, Ukraine and the USA.
Sarah said: “This is a massive achievement.
“We would like to give them some recognition for all the hard work they put into their sport and share with everyone what a great achievement these kids are making at such a young age."
