A MEDIUM is holding a fundraising event for a student with a rare condition who needs lifesaving surgery.
Jenna Jarvis-Brown, 36, who lives in Witham decided to host a fundraiser after receiving a message from her son’s school, New Rickstones Academy that they are raising money for one of their students.
Using her mediumship skills with sister Lisa, they will host a spiritual evening to raise money.
Harry Walker, 14, is a student at the school suffering from pectus excavatum, where the ribs and sternum grow inwards.
He needs a special operation to prevent it from causing issues with his heart and lungs as the space between his chest plate and spine is too close.
More than 400 people have donated to the Go Fund Me set up by Harry’s mother, Caroline Walker.
Although the target of £18,000 has been met - helped by an astonishing £11,000 donation from an anonymous donor - the cost of the operation is expected to have risen.
Caroline said: “If we do hit over our target and once we get a confirmed cost from the Portland Hospital, Harry wishes to pass any extra funds to the next child the NHS is failing.”
The operation is not covered by the NHS and is considered to be cosmetic surgery.
His operation will take place on February 23 at the Wellington Hospital.
Jenna said: “My sister and I are both mediums, so I thought I could organise a fundraiser after seeing a message from the school about Harry.
“I have five children and two of them are at the school.
“I don’t know Harry, but I thought that he needs help and if that was me, I would want someone to help.
“It’s quite stressful to organise and advertise, there’s a lot involved.”
The event is on Friday, November 25, with doors opening at 7.30pm and the event starting at 8pm.
Tickets can be bought on the door for £10 each.
