A PENSIONER has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision involving a car.
The woman, who is in her 80s, was struck by the car in London Road, Braintree, this afternoon.
Emergency workers remain at the scene and the road is closed.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident at 12.15pm to come forward.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Braintree this afternoon.
“The pedestrian, a woman in her 80s has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have any further information to contact us.
“If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.”
Traffic built up in the centre of Braintree following the incident.
London Road was blocked just south of the junction with Clare Road and Pierrefitte Way.
