A COFFEE shop is taking collections to help children in hospital over Christmas.
The Phoenix, in Braintree, is encouraging residents of the town and surrounding areas to help their donations for the Phoenix Children’s Ward at Broomfield Hospital.
A spokesman said: “We are keen to make the Christmas of the children and staff that bit more enjoyable.
“We are encouraging residents of Braintree and the surrounding area to donate for us to do a bumper delivery to the amazing staff at the Phoenix Ward just in time for the big day.
“With personal connections to the hospital, we know they do a fantastic job and hope we can give just a little something back.”
The ward has asked for various new items, including colouring books and crayons, pencils or pens, wipe-cleanable toys, fluffy socks, wireless headphones, puzzles, games and toiletries such as hand cream or lip balm.
The spokesman added: “They often have children aged from newborn to 16 with them over Christmas, so please leave the gifts unwrapped so that they can allocate them appropriately.
“Donations of wrapping paper and gift bags are always appreciated too.”
Donations can be dropped off at the Phoenix, in Bank Street, Braintree, until Sunday, December 18.
