A PINT-SIZED model railway exhibition is set to steam into Witham.

The event will show off more than 15 layouts ranging from the smallest imaginable size, Z gauge, to those more suited to garden use, G scale.

Show organiser Dakota Dibben said: “I’m expecting this to be a popular event.

"It will be bringing with it a great chance for people to enjoy nostalgia in miniature, for others to learn more about a potential new pastime or simply appreciate the care taken to create a model railway.”

Layouts on display will range from a small fictional fishing port resembling Old Hastings, to science fiction themed Cato Cove making its first appearance at an Essex exhibition.

Cato Cove has been created by Laurie Calvert, seen on TV as a team captain on Channel 5’s The Great Model Railway Challenge, and more recently on Yesterday for the Hornby: A Model World series.

Dakota added: “There has been a real upsurge of interest in model railways during the past few years thanks to people having more free time during the pandemic lockdowns.

"That has been helped by high profile TV programmes like Hornby which has just started its second series on Yesterday.”

The event is being held at the Witham Public Hall on January 21 from 10am to 5pm.
