A GLOBAL coffeehouse chain is bringing another branch to Braintree on a site once used for a restaurant.
A new Starbucks drive thru is coming to town, with signs up revealing the new coffee shop is ‘coming soon’.
The branch in question will be replacing the old Frankie and Benny’s restaurant which was demolished in 2021.
The Restaurant Group (TRG), which owns restaurants including Frankie and Benny's, announced the closure as part of a mass exodus of various company-owned restaurants at 125 locations due to the impact of Covid-19.
An application was granted by Braintree Council in December 2021, after developer Abbottswick had put forward plans to replace the old restaurant with a new drive-through building.
Plans to put up the Starbucks sign were also approved by Braintree Council.
In January last year, the plans were given the green light, which include illuminated signs and a menu board.
The site is just off the Galleys Corner area near the A120 by Braintree.
The new venue will join the already existing Starbucks at Braintree Village and the vast number of chains available at Galleys Corner, including the Tim Hortons which was introduced just last year.
The sign outside of the building site also says the company is hiring for the new outlet.
A Starbucks spokesman confirmed the news in a statement, saying: "We look forward to bringing the Starbucks experience to customers in Braintree in the near future and will be in touch once we have more specific plans to share."
