A CASUALTY was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being trapped in their vehicle after a collision last night.
Firefighters worked to free a person from their car after a single-vehicle collision on Pod’s Brook Road in Braintree.
The car had left the road and one person was trapped inside.
The fire service was called at 11.32pm last night.
The person was freed by 12.25pm and left in the care of the ambulance service and taken to hospital.
The casualty's injuries are said to be serious but are not believed to be life-threatening.
Crews from Braintree and Great Dunmow fire stations went to the incident.
A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters were called to Pod's Brook Road in Braintree last night after reports that a car had left the road.
“On arrival firefighters reported that one person was trapped in their car and worked to release them by 00.25.
“The casualty was left in the care of the ambulance service.”
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called to Pods Brook Road in Braintree at around 11:30pm last night (28 January) following a single vehicle collision.
"Officers assisted Essex Fire and Rescue and the ambulance service with road closures.
"The driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening."
The East of England Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
