A POPULAR high street fashion retailer has announced it will be closing the doors of its Witham store.
New Look, which is in the town’s Newlands Shopping Centre, will pull the plug on the town next week.
Next Thursday will be the last day shoppers will be welcomed into the store.
The company is seeking to move its Witham-based staff to other stores to minimise job losses.
A spokesperson for New Look confirmed the impending closure, stating: “Our store in Witham will be closing on May 18.
“We are supporting colleagues and we are looking to accommodate the team into local stores where possible.”
Thanking the firm’s loyal customers, they continued: “We have enjoyed being part of the local community and would like to thank all our customers for shopping with us.”
The high street fashion giant confirmed none of its other Essex stores are closing at present.
New Look fans will need to travel to stores in Bank Street, Braintree, High Chelmer Shopping Centre, Chelmsford, or Lion Walk, Colchester, to get their fashion fix.
The announcement comes after another fashion retailer, M&Co, announced it would be closing all of its stores, including one in Witham, in the spring.
