A PRIMARY school with an “ambitious curriculum” and pupils who “bring the best out of each other” has been heavily praised following a watchdog inspection.
Rivenhall Primary School, in Witham, has been rated 'Good' by Ofsted.
The school, which is part of the Chelmsford Vine Schools Trust, was delighted to receive the feedback after the inspection in February.
The school’s report emphasised how collaborative the pupils were and how they “bring the best out of each other” and “delight in their achievements and those of other pupils”.
The report praised how Rivenhall pupils “readily take up positions of responsibility at the school” and can “talk maturely about the issues young people face in today’s modern society.”
The inspector also commented on how leaders have an “ambitious and well-designed curriculum in place” and provide “effective support so pupils do not fall behind.”
The report reads: “Leaders’ guidance enables teachers to effectively deliver, in a sensible order, what pupils need to learn.
“Teachers check, with precision, what pupils know and can do.”
Support for SEND pupils was also highlighted by the inspection team.
They said: “Leaders provide well for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
“Leaders accurately identify these pupils’ needs and provide detailed guidance for staff to use when planning learning activities for pupils with SEND.
“Leaders also provide effective training for staff about how best to support pupils with SEND.
“Staff use leaders’ guidance and training well. They make sure pupils with SEND can access the same curriculum as their peers. This supports pupils with SEND to achieve well.”
Headteacher Rebecca More said: “We are all very proud of our school and the latest Ofsted result of ‘Good’.
“It was wonderful that the inspectors saw that the children demonstrate our school vision and values of Many Hearts - One School."
Emma Wigmore, CEO of the Vine Schools Trust, added “This is a fantastic outcome for the pupils and staff at Rivenhall Primary School.
"We are proud that Rivenhall has such a positive and supportive culture.
“I particularly loved the section of Ofsted’s report that mentioned how the school fosters confidence and leadership skills.
“As a trust, one of our core values is ‘empowering all to flourish’, which I feel Rivenhall demonstrates perfectly.”
