A VILLAGE fete has been cancelled last minute due to weather concerns.
The Great Notley Village Fete was due to take place tomorrow.
A day of fairground rides, archery and axe throwing, inflatables, live music, craft stalls, displays and refreshments was in store.
However, bosses have confirmed a last minute cancellation, due to “unseasonal weather conditions”.
A statement reads: “It is with a heavy heart that we have to advise that due to the forecast unseasonal weather conditions for Saturday, we have taken the decision to cancel this weekend’s village fete.
“The forecast is for gale force winds which raises a lot of safety concerns and certainly precludes the use of inflatables and other planned activities.
“We do hope to reschedule and will keep you posted. Thank you to everyone who supports our event, we’re so sorry for the disappointment caused.”
Yesterday, the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds, which will affect the whole of Essex over the weekend.
The forecaster has said it will likely be an "unseasonably windy day" for the affected area.
The yellow wind warning could lead to some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport, short-term loss of power, damage to trees or temporary structures such as marquees, tents and inflatables, and more.
