WITHAM'S MP joined campaigners to voice opposition to plans for 100 miles of powerlines and pylons.
The Dame Priti Patel, has joined campaigners at a meeting and demonstration to voice opposition to the plans by National Grid for more than 100 miles of overhead powerlines and pylons across the East of England between Norwich and Tilbury.

Dozens of concerned residents met at Broad Green and then joined Dame Priti at the King’s Arms on Friday with Rosie Pearson, the Founder of Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk Pylons and Sir Bernard Jenkin MP.
Dame Priti said: "There's strong opposition to the plans for pylons from communities and campaigners across the region with serious concerns being raised about the impact and blight that over one hundred miles of overhead power lines will cause.

"It was great to meet so many people who share these concerns and the power of our campaign and the strength of opposition should be felt at National Grid and in the heart of Government.
"During the consultation currently taking place, it is vital that residents and businesses affected and concerned respond and lobby the Government directly.
"I have raised these issues with ministers and in Parliament and I will continue to press at every opportunity for the offshore grid to be developed as quickly as possible."
