A DOG was rescued from a burning home after concerned neighbours alerted emergency services after seeing smoke coming from its roof.
Crews from Stansted, Newport, Great Dunmow and Chelmsford rushed to Felstead Crescent in Stansted at 2.42pm this afternoon to reports of smoke coming from the roof of a house.
When the crews arrived, they found the first floor and roof space of the semi-detached property was completely alight.
When firefighters checked to make sure no one was inside, they found a dog which they took outside to safety.
No one was reported to have been harmed by the fire. The fire service surrounded the fire and managed to extinguish it by 5pm.
The cause of the fire is not yet known. The service has confirmed an investigation will take place to find the cause.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents to complete the service’s online home safety check to evaluate the risk of a fire in their homes.
The service hopes the check will reduce the number of house fires in the county.
