A NEW first-of-its-kind ice rink will be unveiled at Braintree Village later this year as part of the outlet shopping centre’s Christmas celebrations.
Set to create an enchanting environment for guests to enjoy during the fun filled festive season, the 50m by 30m undercover ice rink will open to the public on Thursday, November 9, for more than eight weeks.
Offering guests the perfect activity come rain, snow or shine, as well as a spot of Christmas shopping for all the family to enjoy, it will be the first time in its 24 year history Braintree Village has offered guests an ice rink experience.
Featuring real ice, and designed and installed by Icescape, the custom built ice rink will be next to the top of the north car park and will provide skaters with a captivating festive atmosphere for anyone looking to enjoy Christmas shopping.
In addition to the ice rink itself, the marquees would include skate collection and return point, first aid room, an internal viewing platform, staff room, catering facility and plant equipment.
The ice rink will open on Thursday, November 9, running for the entire Christmas season until Sunday, January 7, with pre-bookable 45 minute sessions and skate hire included.
Braintree Village centre director Josef O’Sullivan said: “We are incredibly excited to announce the arrival of Braintree Village’s first-ever ice skating rink this Christmas and we’re sure it’s going to be a big hit.
“The creation of the new rink will be a magical new addition at the pinnacle of our Christmas celebrations, giving guests the ultimate Christmas shopping experience whether they’re local or visiting from across the East of England and beyond.
"We’re now putting the final touches to our festive plans and will announce more details about Christmas at Braintree Village as soon as we can.”
As it is expected to be popular, guests are advised to book their ice skating tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
Details of tickets and prices will be announced in the coming weeks.
The news of the festive addition to the Essex-based outlet shopping destination, follows the recent opening of Pret A Manger’s 70 seater café and a ZWILLING store.
