A YARD has been destroyed along with the vehicles inside it after bonfire embers spread.
Firefighters were called to Beazley End, near Wethersfield, shortly before 6.40am this morning [Thursday] when the landowner spotted the fire.
When they reached the scene, a crew from Wethersfield reported a yard was alight with a lorry trailer, motorbike and skip on fire.
The firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and believe it was caused by embers from a bonfire held the night before.
Pictures shown the scene of destruction after the fire was put out.
The car has had a significant amount of its body burnt down to the chassis, while the trailer is smoke-logged.
The incident has sparked a safety warning from Wethersfield fire station watch manager Darren Hockley.
He said: “If you’re going to have a bonfire, please make sure it’s properly cooled before you leave it.
"It only takes a couple of hot embers to catch in the wind and catch alight to anything nearby.
“Our advice would be to cool the embers with water before you leave the scene or before putting any ashes in the bin.”
